At Kiwi Kapers, we believe in building healthy eating habits and independence that support children for life. We ask families to provide a packed lunchbox each day, giving you control over your child's dietary needs and food preferences.
Our centre is equipped to safely refrigerate and reheat meals when needed. Lunchboxes also help children learn to recognise their hunger cues, manage their food and develop skills that prepare them for school.
Our garden is a living classroom where tamariki can get their hands dirty, explore nature and discover where their food comes from. Our child-friendly garden beds allow little hands to plant, nurture and harvest seasonal vegetables, herbs and flowers.
From summer tomatoes and beans to winter carrots and broccoli, children help choose what we grow, prepare and share the harvest. Through gardening, composting and discovering minibeasts, they develop curiosity, patience and a deep respect for Papatūānuku (Earth Mother).
Children take an active role in planting, nurturing and harvesting seasonal vegetables and herbs.
Tamariki gather, prepare, cook and share the food they have grown with their own hands.
Discovering insects, plants and changing seasons inspires questions and hands-on learning.
Gardening and composting nurture kaitiakitanga, teaching children to care for the natural world.
We believe caring for our planet starts with the smallest hands. At Kiwi Kapers, sustainability is part of everyday life, helping tamariki understand how small actions can make a positive difference to the world around them.
Children sort their food scraps for our compost bins and worm farm, helping turn suitable waste into nutrient-rich compost for our gardens.
We collect rainwater for watering our gardens and supporting sandpit play, helping children understand the value of every drop.
Our rooftop solar panels demonstrate renewable energy in action. Families can also help by choosing reusable containers, bento boxes and wrapper-free lunches to reduce single-use waste. Food scraps unsuitable for our composting systems, including meat, dairy, citrus and onions, are returned home in lunchboxes.
